The African National Congress is possibly facing the most challenging election to date. Rising unemployment, load shedding and the emergence of new political parties are expected to give the ruling party a tough time in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver the party's manifesto tomorrow in one of the country's highly contested provinces, KwaZulu-Natal.
This year's general election coincides with 30 years of the country's democracy.

Storm in KwaZulu-Natal leaves trail of destruction
The South African Weather Service says it is investigating whether storm winds and heavy rains in various parts of KwaZulu-Natal were indeed a tornado. Many people have been left without shelter in Inanda, north of Durban after strong winds blew roofs off homes yesterday afternoon.
Meanwhile, residents of Dube village in Inanda, north of Durban, who were left homeless after a devastating storm, have spoken to the SABC about their ordeal. The damage is still being assessed after heavy rains and storms left a trail of destruction in some areas in the province.
SABC News reporter Jayed Paulse spoke to Bongani Ntuli who has been displaced.

Flooding in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province has killed dozens of people.
It follows heavy rain on Monday that has swept away roads, submerged homes and forced many people from their houses.
Several others are missing and mudslides are hampering rescue work.
The government has deployed the army to help emergency teams.
